Holiday Retirement

Holiday Retirement Corp. is a privately held company headquartered in Salem, Oregon, that owns and operates more than 300 independent retirement living communities across the U.S. and Canada. Holiday Retirement is the largest owner of senior housing and the third largest manager of senior housing, according to an American Seniors Housing Association study in 2009.[1]

Holiday Retirement has more than 10,000 employees and more than 29,000 residents. Holiday operates more than 32,000,000 square feet (3,000,000 m2) of total property. Its current Chief Executive Officer is Jack R. Callison Jr., and its President is Bob Donovan.

History

William E. Colson and his father Hugh Colson founded Holiday Management Company in 1971.[2] The name was changed to Holiday Retirement Corp. in 1987.[3] From 1984 through 2009, Holiday Retirement added at least three properties every year, including 22 properties in 1998 and 1999. Its newest property, Las Palmas in Palm Coast, Fla., opened on May 28, 2009. Holiday Retirement acquired The Chateau in McKinney, Texas on July 1, 2011. William Colson sold the company in early 2007 to its current owner, Fortress Investment Group LLC of New York.[4][5]
